i just made a cup of coffee. i hope i don't like it, i just need my mind to wake up to work just this once. i'm a little tired from last night's 5 miles!!! and figuring out jeff beck licks before that. equally difficult. no, more difficult. check out the new rough mixes of Hyde tunes on my website featuring Andre Lovelle and his choir. also, have been adding rasberry jelly to cookie shockers at night - new name, cookie rockers.

so my roomate joey, his girlfriend brianna, and i are running up and down blackstone blvd. we're gonna go further and further and soon do some races. i've been bikin with papa french who you probably see moonlighting on harp at solo gigs, and i'd like to swim too. could i do an iron man? DA DA, DA DA DA! that may be getting ahead of myself, i've done 20 miles on a bike, 4 running, and i look like a busted fishing lure in the water these days, but i think getting all he-manly might be nice. not to be confused with scott manley - great drummer if you're in LA. by the way if we do do some sort of running event our team is called the primary colors. joey's the blue ranger, brianna's the yellow ranger and i'm the red one of course.

i've been practicing a lot in the late hours too, diving into my old studies. jazzy, classical, and traditional they may be, but i always feel more comfortable playin blues and screamin rock when actively wankin, chopsing and being a fretboard cartographer by candle light in my off time.

drelove music's singers are coming over saturday to add some authentic LOVE LOVE LOVE to the end of I Wanna Love. that's pretty exciting, real gospel singing, on my record! i think i've got lead VOX in the can for Lay Your Fiddle Down, She Doesn't Know, and Big Dream now too, just gotta comp. the band and the solo experience have been cooking up a new original tune or 2 and i've got some new cover ideas that'll satisfy too. i do the guy singing a song originally by a girl about a guy thing backwards well. stonesy version of Hot n Cold, and a dark 6/8 Gloria Gaynor. speaking of covers, check out our gypsys at jerkys

www.ericfrench.com! anyone who writes code for a living deserves to be paid well. what a job - at times tedious, at other times horribly frustrating, punctuated with short bursts of pride and excitement. i designed it myself with some help from boygenius.com sean correia. it was fun though, engrossing too. i'm sure it will continue to be interesting. i'm going to keep updating it. all is quiet here in pawtucket aside from the trucks coming back home to the factory loading docks next door. backing in. beep beep beep. i kinda wish my car made that noise, only it might be more sickly at the moment, someone rammed my ass last week on 10 south. the band sounded GREAT today at rehearsal and we're gonna knock em up... dead, dead i mean dead at Jerky's tomorrow. we have a new sign too! email me if you want info on how to get a high quality vynl sign for really cheap. no, not from china. gigs lately have been really fun too, tink's last week was a real blast with Roger Williams U graduates singing along, special guest on harp ronny french (shamon), and announcements from the leader of their softball team - note to self, on breaks at a bar gig TURN THE MIC OFF. memorial day in lincoln was a good time as always too. haven't shaved yet for tomorrow's show... should i do the hyde half beard? should i rock the costume? i have the feeling the boys might still be holding back a little in the wardrobe dept so it might be a little weird. we'll see, i'll concoct something. just need to keep my grandmothers and aunts away from my costuming, they want to sew the holes in my jeans shut. i tell them it's ventilation

all is happy again in toyland, no more sound police, and lots of work going on. i'm about to sheepishly admit something. i've been playing a little jazz. just with friends to make money on the side, honest... but i've been enjoying it. all the things you are, solar and my personal favorite - the days of guns and roses! oh yeah, blue bossa, black orpheus, red 22 hike! jobim goes for the touchdown - goooooooooooooal. gooooooooooooooooal. goooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooal i just wanted to be honest with all of you, this is a relationship built on trust, and if i have a dirty little secret, i want it to be our dirty little secret. the recording of our little demo should be done this week, i'll post a link. we need a name though. i think jazzed friends. or the return of all dressed up. ellie martin, corey schreppel and matt pryor are the co- conspirators. anyway, gotta go practice my chord scales- i mean ROCKING, ROCKING, definitely ROCKING

love notes

i hate being interrupted at anything, especially work. when i'm practicing singing or playing and someone calls, i ignore it and throw the phone in another room. when someone comes to talk to me i bite their head off. when i'm in the middle of leading a rehearsal at a space i've paid to use for such and a pawtucket police officer threatens to kick my head in because he doesn't have time for this $#@% i get really ticked. apparently the people in the building who prop the door leading to theft, blast guitar hero into my bedroom at 3am, and care for a child in a manner that promotes a consistant bloody scream at all hours of the night accompanied by the yips of a malnourished chiwouwa have a problem with me working during the daytime. well that's just lovely. so, i've left love notes being mr. friendly. but i warn these losers and landlords of the lofts that if this becomes a problem i'm going to be the biggest pain in the @$$ they've seen in a long time about it. i've got a jewish mother and have had 2 jewish girlfriends, i've learned a thing or two about getting my way.

cookie shocker

ingredients:

1 medium to large glass
1 spoon
7 - 10 cookies of any type
peanut butter
milk (regular or vanilla soy)

stack the cookies in the glass, and grab a spoonful of peanutbutter with, well, with the spoon. then shove the peanutbuttered spoon into the glass with the cookies and fill the glass with milk until all the cookies are just about submerged. wait about a minute for the cookies to soften, then blend the whole thing into a mush. eat and drink the mush.

so my hetero domestic partner (really - he's got a girlfriend, and i'm married to a strat named cheryl - not that there's anything wrong with that!) got an HD projector. we're watching obama tell us about the economy, Carlos Santana scream on a PRS, and Robert Downey Jr. do whatever he does 8 feet tall. it's pretty great, we're having movie nights, playing giant wii, and since i watch lots of concert dvds in the morning while i eat cereal and panetone and do my calisthenics - i get to study my guitar heroes in action.

i need to work on my faces. SRV made great faces, jimi made this stretched weaving the threads of the universe together face, Clapton makes this pained thang. i need a face. i don't want it to be a face people'll wanna punch it's so goofy, but something emotive. i love john mayer's playing and his artistry since his 3rd record, but his faces make me wanna knock his expensive 2 roks over and yell at him.

been working here at the loft a lot, it's been productive. anyone that syncs things

CHRONOSYNC

it's awesome. as my little bro says, i'm livin dream. HJY's playlist makes me almost as mad as JM's faces though. with something in her mouth

oh and i'm doing yoga now, it's pretty intense, my core muscles haven't been this sore since i met paris hilton last year. and my right shin is still dented from a PA head falling on it last week. check out the pic on twitter

happy love day. why write on valentine's day after not blogging for weeks after promising to keep it up? because, like the little heart shaped pieces of chalk so elegantly display - i luv u -. and i wanted to fire off a quick note in a new style, i bit off a little more than i could chew with the format of the last few entries... setting myself up to feel overwhelmed by having to come up with a ton of news and views. i'll still dazzle you with wit, just with slightly less spit. the band's sounding great lately, we've been rehearsing in the bucket and the bubble (my place and a prestigious contemporary music higher ed facility eric's still enrolled @) and it's been cool to hear the music coming together in different spaces. the sounds thinning out and getting leaner giving space to the 4 elements and getting stronger and fatter at the same time. ESPECIALLY with eric on his own kit in boston, dayam! i think they're by

www.ddrum.com

and wally's building his rig, it's pretty exciting. i'm getting inspired to build a 50w superbass plexi in red tolex this spring

and we wrote an electric arrangement for fury. it's murderous. website's almost done, think i'm gonna launch it before the album content's done. shootin some pics tomorrow night, should be able to wrap it up

gotta go be a seamstress... seamsir? that was slightly more succint than the last few posts. go find and listen to a band called bloodline, Joe Hardy produced the CD, miles and robbie krieger's kids are in the band and joe bonamassa's the guitarist... so good, the songs are rockin no matter what this review says

the least they could've done was invited me, right? or given me an alphabetical list of each girl's phone number? again, sorry to all the EFMH boston fans who were disappointed this past tuesday. due to a scheduling mishap, Tommy Doyle's hosted a sorority party instead of me and you. oh well, we've rescheduled for february 3rd, as you can see on the beautiful WIDGET to the right. hence eric 2.o... you can also now sign up for my mailing list in a new way (i'm now managing it through REVERBNATION), see videos in a slick gallery on EFMH myspace, and soon purchase EFMH apparel for the people you love who loveric... or hateric.

EFMH is definitely, officially, unequivocally MKII with Wally and Eric K. in the rythm section. We're still rehearsing and planning to do spectacular electric shows, continuing to do solo and +1/+2 acoustic concerts, and fun one night bar stands around New England (whoooooaaa, we're halfway theeeeere). we also now have a beautiful home base rehearsal/ recording studio in the bucket - pawtucket, RI right over the providence line. there goes the neighborhood. speaking of neighborhoods we're moving into, check out the new pages

as well as ericfrench.com, which is in the hands of a great web designer, and disciple of EFF's on guitar, mr. sean correia. another friend jumping on board this crazy train to help out in an engineering capacity on the long anticipated (by me too...) album is mr. corey schreppel. check his band, CAPTAIN PABLO, out. they've just finished a new record.

on to ranting uncontrollably. i've sprained my knee on black ice this past week and wonder if i'll ever scissor kick off drum risers again. nah, i will, it's a minor injury, i'll just walk like igor in the mornings for the next week. but what would it be like for the athlete that tears a ligament and ruins their ability to run/ jump/ sell sneakers? what of the opera singer who gets throat cancer and has his voice removed? i wonder if the people this type of thing happens to retain their passion and zeal, yet channel it in a new way - into a new form of expression. i've heard a lot of folks say there's zen in everything, and i imagine it's true that when you become an expert in one discipline that you gain insight into the journey to realize every other art and science. i wonder, however, if it's possible to feel the same love for a second dream after the first has been snatched away. perhaps... what of the widowed who find love again? what about every one of us after getting dropped by the one that got away... we keep goin after that spoonful in another place. i can't imagine any baking, cycling, or screenwriting fascinations ever being able to fill the void if i was suddenly deaf, mute, and without a fretting hand, but i hope that something would if that ever happened anyway. it would have to because every art each of us practices is simply an extension of the development of mind and spirit in the direction of showing/being ourselves to the fullest extent. and if we're not chasing that in one racecar/ recording studio/ kitchen/ dojo or another, what are we doing exactly? just leanin up against a post. everybody funny, now you funny too
