eff 2.o

the least they could've done was invited me, right? or given me an alphabetical list of each girl's phone number? again, sorry to all the EFMH boston fans who were disappointed this past tuesday. due to a scheduling mishap, Tommy Doyle's hosted a sorority party instead of me and you. oh well, we've rescheduled for february 3rd, as you can see on the beautiful WIDGET to the right. hence eric 2.o... you can also now sign up for my mailing list in a new way (i'm now managing it through REVERBNATION), see videos in a slick gallery on EFMH myspace, and soon purchase EFMH apparel for the people you love who loveric... or hateric.

EFMH is definitely, officially, unequivocally MKII with Wally and Eric K. in the rythm section. We're still rehearsing and planning to do spectacular electric shows, continuing to do solo and +1/+2 acoustic concerts, and fun one night bar stands around New England (whoooooaaa, we're halfway theeeeere). we also now have a beautiful home base rehearsal/ recording studio in the bucket - pawtucket, RI right over the providence line. there goes the neighborhood. speaking of neighborhoods we're moving into, check out the new pages

as well as ericfrench.com, which is in the hands of a great web designer, and disciple of EFF's on guitar, mr. sean correia. another friend jumping on board this crazy train to help out in an engineering capacity on the long anticipated (by me too...) album is mr. corey schreppel. check his band, CAPTAIN PABLO, out. they've just finished a new record.

on to ranting uncontrollably. i've sprained my knee on black ice this past week and wonder if i'll ever scissor kick off drum risers again. nah, i will, it's a minor injury, i'll just walk like igor in the mornings for the next week. but what would it be like for the athlete that tears a ligament and ruins their ability to run/ jump/ sell sneakers? what of the opera singer who gets throat cancer and has his voice removed? i wonder if the people this type of thing happens to retain their passion and zeal, yet channel it in a new way - into a new form of expression. i've heard a lot of folks say there's zen in everything, and i imagine it's true that when you become an expert in one discipline that you gain insight into the journey to realize every other art and science. i wonder, however, if it's possible to feel the same love for a second dream after the first has been snatched away. perhaps... what of the widowed who find love again? what about every one of us after getting dropped by the one that got away... we keep goin after that spoonful in another place. i can't imagine any baking, cycling, or screenwriting fascinations ever being able to fill the void if i was suddenly deaf, mute, and without a fretting hand, but i hope that something would if that ever happened anyway. it would have to because every art each of us practices is simply an extension of the development of mind and spirit in the direction of showing/being ourselves to the fullest extent. and if we're not chasing that in one racecar/ recording studio/ kitchen/ dojo or another, what are we doing exactly? just leanin up against a post. everybody funny, now you funny too
