tweet tweet - 3 big birds

twas late monday night, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring... and I found that quite boring so I drove to New Haven and played a mini set at Cafe Nine's Beatnik 2000. it's a great little place and on monday nights there's poets and musicians switching off. there's an older guy there every week that does this stream of consciousness stuff that makes me slightly less afraid of losing the colorful side of my vocabulary as I age, but more afraid of losing my mind. tweet tweet.

this month's performances are listed on my website www.ericfrench.com in Providence, Boston, and yup, New Haven. catch me playing new songs like

House Of Cards
Lamb
Bangalore Call Girl

at all 3 shows. i like playing in CT, by the way. CT, you're gorgeous. if CT were a woman, and i were a man... oh man. tweet tweet.

NEWS ALERT - EFMH MKII may have just birthed itself.... and it's a boy! i'd say he's about 5'10, 150, brown eyes? after a year of searching around the next incarnation of the band was in my own backyard. looks like wally's gonna be lockin in with mr. eric kalver on the drums! another fine young Cranston/ Boston boy! and you know what they say, 2 erics are better than 1! well, actually, i've been saying that awhile what with the nice acoustic eric french and the bluesifyin electric burnin up the rails explodin freight train eric f!@#ing french on the scene... so i guess 3 erics are better than 2. we should be booking shows as a trio soon. tweet tweet.

spendin NYE with mister "get to know er MATT NAKOA", another fine boston boy to check out. what are you doing? are you kissin? are you missin? are you taking stock of your life to lay it out in front of you on a nice fresh gregorian plot? this year is the year, right? so was last year, and so will it be next year. but not in a sarcastic tone... i think the take stock and think ahead with a clear sense of new opportunity thing is great to do on a regular basis. i think it keeps us all focused, and anyone that doesn't keep a nice pot of self awareness simmering on the stove that they go and stir once in a while is gonna end up going hungry. and if it's there but you're afraid to go stir it up, you're gonna find out the bottom is burned when you go to eat it. lunchtime metaphor... yet all the same, this time we've got, this life we're living isn't just a cyclical thang, it's also a one time ride, straight shot corridor we're barreling down. unless you believe in reincarnation. i recently started paradise lost by milton along with a book to help me understand and appreciate it. alongside that i'm reading a book by a man that decided to live literally by the rules of the bible for an entire year. "you say you want a resolution weeelll you know..." so in short, i think we should join Bally's, practice our harmonica playing more, and ask that cute thing on the train out for a date. but, i like to realize that this isn't a this year thing, it's a this life thing if it's gonna count. we're the ones that tied time to a circular face spinning round, and into rows and piles of playboy/ harley/ kitten calendars sitting on the B&N bargain shelf now that christmas is over. really it's an intangible succession of moments marching forward and tickin down for each of us, so make the most of it without getting caught up in compartmentalizing it for yourself. time's a wide open sky, and you're a bird baby - tweet tweet.

ps i might get a marshall halfstack- it's all over now
